  • Born in California on July 9th 1956, to Amos Hanks and Nancy Hanks, he was brought up as an  "Bible-toting evangelical teenager". In school, Hanks was unpopular with students and teachers and he told in an interview that he was horribly, painfully, terribly shy. In 1979 he moved to New York city with an earnest desire to become the part of film industry.
  • He started his career in a humble manner, acting in television and comedy serials. In Philadelphia, he played a gay lawyer with AIDS who sues his firm for discrimination.The title role of Forrest Gump was about an idiot savant who is just below the normal IQ level and has exceptional talent in sports.
